Wachuma Experiences at Ruhani

Three ways to work with the desert medicine. One day in the national park, a full-day deep ceremony at the centre, or a weekend immersion with overnight stay. All guided by Faisal. All built around preparation, safety, and integration.

Group of people posing in front of a sign at Guanacaste Conservation Area, Rincón de la Vieja National Park, Costa Rica, on a sunny day.

You're curious about Wachuma. Or you've already done the ceremony and want to go deeper with the desert tradition specifically.

Either way, you want the experience done properly. Preparation before. Experienced guide during. Integration after. Not a tourist version. Not a party. Not a stranger with a cactus brew and a good Instagram.

Ruhani offers three Wachuma experiences depending on how deep you want to go and how much time you have. All three are led by Faisal Khattak personally. All three include preparation and integration. The difference is depth, duration, and container.

Who Is This For

These experiences are for the person curious about plant medicine who wants to start with the gentler tradition, or for someone who already knows Wachuma and wants a deeper container for it. Wachuma is not ayahuasca. It's grounding, heart-centered, and done outside in nature instead of a ceremony room.

People who come on this quest usually fall into three categories:

You've been curious about plant medicine for a while and want to try it with a reputable facility before committing to a full retreat.

You've done ayahuasca before and want to experience the desert tradition, which works differently and opens different layers.

You're staying in Costa Rica and want one intentional, guided day in the wilderness with real medicine, not a tourist version.

You've done a Wachuma walk or single ceremony before and want a weekend immersion with overnight stay, deeper ceremony, and follow-up support from Faisal.

This is not for people looking for a party experience. It is not a hallucinogenic hike. It is a structured, guided plant medicine day with preparation before, experienced guidance during, and integration after.

Three Experiences. One Medicine. Choose Your Depth.

Each experience uses the same medicine and the same guide. The difference is how much time, depth, and integration you get. Start where it feels right. Many people come back for the next level after.

1. The Wachuma Macrodose Walk

One day. Raw nature. The gentlest entry point into real Wachuma ceremony.

This is a full-day guided Wachuma macrodose experience in Rincon de la Vieja National Park. You spend 12 hours in the wilderness with Faisal, walking through an ancient forest while the medicine opens what you've been carrying.

What's included:

Pre-journey preparation. A briefing on how Wachuma works in the body, what to expect, and how to work with what comes up. Specific. Practical. No mysticism.

A guided Wachuma macrodose ceremony held by Faisal with 15+ years of practice.

Transportation and park entry to Rincon de la Vieja National Park and back.

Guided forest immersion including intentional walking, breathwork, periods of silence, and hands-on nature connection.

Post-journey integration circle. Structured processing of what surfaced. You don't leave the day without landing what you experienced.

Snacks and dinner included.

6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.

The Investment:
1 person: $950
2 people: $750 per person
3 people: $650 per person

Best for: First-time Wachuma participants. People visiting Costa Rica who want a single intentional day. Anyone curious about the desert medicine before committing to a longer experience.

2. The Deep Dive Wachuma

One full day at the centre. Deeper ceremony. More structure. More Faisal.

Same medicine as the Macrodose Walk. Deeper container. Instead of hiking through the national park, this ceremony happens at Ruhani Wellness Centre in a controlled, intimate setting. More teaching. More ritual. More integration time.

What's included:

One deep Wachuma ceremony at Ruhani Wellness Centre.

A traditional Despacho ceremony (a gratitude offering practice from the Andean tradition).

Integration and sharing circles throughout the day.

Closing ceremony to seal the container properly.

Full private attention from Faisal for the entire day.

A take-home integration map so the work continues after you leave.

Teachings and wisdom directly from Faisal during the experience.

Snacks and dinner included.

6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.

The Investment:
1 person: $950
2 people: $750 per person
3 people: $600 per person
4 or more: $500 per person

Best for: People who want the depth without the hike. Returning participants who want a more intimate ceremony setting. Anyone who wants more teaching and integration built into the day.

3. The Grandfather Weekend

Two nights. One deep ceremony. The closest thing to a mini-retreat with Wachuma as the anchor.

This is Wachuma with a landing gear. You arrive the day before ceremony. You settle into the land. You eat clean. You sleep at the centre. The next day you go deep. The day after, you integrate before you leave. And Faisal follows up with a voice note every day for a week after.

Most single-day ceremonies end and you go home. The Grandfather Weekend gives the medicine time to settle. The extra days matter more than most people expect.

What's included:

2 nights private room at Ruhani Wellness Centre.

3 meals and 1 snack during the stay.

One deep Wachuma ceremony with Faisal.

A traditional Despacho ceremony.

Integration and sharing circles.

Closing ceremony.

Full private attention from Faisal throughout the stay.

A take-home integration map.

A 7-day follow-up: one voice note from Faisal each day for a week after you leave.

The Investment:
1 person: $1,200
2 people: $1,000 per person
3 people: $850 per person
4 or more: $700 per person

Best for: People who want the full container without committing to a 9-week process. Returning clients going deeper. Anyone who knows one day isn't quite enough but a full retreat isn't the right fit yet.

Not Sure Which One Fits

The Macrodose Walk is your entry point. One day. National park. Great if you're trying Wachuma for the first time or want a nature-based experience.

The Deep Dive is for more depth in a single day. Centre-based ceremony with teaching, ritual, and a take-home integration map.

The Grandfather Weekend is the closest thing to a mini-retreat. Two nights on-site, a full ceremony, and 7 days of follow-up from Faisal after you leave.

All three include preparation, experienced guidance, and integration. All three are led by Faisal personally.

The Wachuma Macrodose Walk Review

Common Questions

  • Wachuma is the gentler of the traditional plant medicines we work with. It's often recommended as a first experience. You'll receive a medical screening and preparation briefing before the day. If this isn't safe for your specific health situation, we'll tell you directly.

  • Wachuma is heart-centered and grounding. Most people describe it as a deepening of presence, emotional opening, and clarity about their life and purpose. It's not an intense ayahuasca-style experience. It's a slower, more spacious medicine.

  • Yes. You'll receive a 3-day preparation diet protocol after you book. Simple and manageable. It prepares your body for the experience.

  • Certain medications are not compatible with Wachuma. Our pre-journey screening addresses this. If your specific medication situation isn't compatible, we'll let you know directly.

  • Moderate. You'll walk in the national park at a slow intentional pace. Not a hike. Not strenuous. But you should be comfortable on uneven terrain for several hours.

  • The Macrodose Walk is nature-based. You're in the national park all day, walking through the forest with the medicine. The Deep Dive happens at Ruhani's centre with more teaching, more ritual, and a structured closing ceremony. Same medicine, different container.

  • Time. You arrive the day before, sleep at the centre, do the ceremony the next day, and integrate the morning after before you leave. The extra days give the medicine room to settle. Plus Faisal sends you a personal voice note every day for a week after you leave. That follow-up is the piece most people didn't know they needed.
